3x3Hustle: Geelong Waterfront Activation

For one day only, 3x3Hustle will be teaming up with Special Olympics Australia and Koorie Academy for an activation along the Geelong waterfront.

On Sunday, April 13, 3x3Hustle will host “SPECIAL 3” with Special Olympics Australia from 10am, with four rounds of knockout games, followed by a Koorie Academy basketball clinic that will see 40 invited athletes (selected by Ricky Baldwin, Founder of Koorie Academy) participate.

The community of Geelong and surrounding areas will be able to enjoy both the tournament and clinic for free. Giveaways and competitions will also take place on the day with prizes to be won, and for families to enjoy as part of the event.

Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM said the tournament and free clinic would offer an opportunity to witness greatness in sport and encourage participation.

“This is a fantastic event providing opportunities for everyone to get involved in sport – something we champion here in Greater Geelong,” Mayor Kontelj said.

“It’s also a great chance for people from across the region to come together at our beautiful waterfront and witness superb performance from the athletes with Special Olympics Australia.”

“We’re looking forward to bringing this one-day only event to Geelong with Special Olympics Australia and Koorie Academy. To be able to offer an event like this in one of Geelong’s prime location spots is exciting,” 3x3Hustle Product Manager, Shubh Agarwal said.

“Special Olympics Australia is thrilled to collaborate with 3×3 Hustle once again to showcase SPECIAL 3 alongside the NBL and celebrate the power of inclusive sport. Our athletes love basketball, and having the opportunity to play at the scenic Geelong waterfront makes this experience even more memorable,” Special Olympics Australia CEO, Pierre Comis said.

“We always love coming down on Wadawurrung Country working with young mob who love their basketball. It’s great to be working with the NBL 3x3Hustle waterfront event giving the kids an opportunity to be involved in this national Tournament,” Founder of Koorie Academy, Ricky Baldwin said.
