2019 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup Player Preview: Bec Cole

“I would expect the typical Bec Cole.”

That’s all Matt Paton had to say when asked what he anticipates from Cole at this weekend’s FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup.

The typical Cole, though, is nothing like your typical 3×3 basketballer.

Instead, that definition explains Australia’s number one ranked women’s 3×3 player, who is going from strength to strength in the new format.

Cole’s ability to put the ball on the floor and hit incredible shots from all angles against all kinds of defences has been stunning to watch, and Paton has no doubts she will bring that same mentality to China.

2019 FIBA 3×3 ASIA CUP PLAYER PREVIEW: MADDIE GARRICK

“I would expect the typical Bec Cole as far as she thrives on the contest, she is an absolute warrior when it comes to the format,” Paton said.

“She has really made it her own and found her niche. She is a very high percentage player that finds ways to get the job done.

“She has just come off a 40 point game in NBL1 with Dandenong, so she is in great form and I would expect her to continue her evolution as a 3×3 player in what now becomes her second format of the game.”

Cole is already the number one player in Australia, and she will be out to prove she is the number one player in Asia this weekend, while hoping the Aussies can win gold.

The Australian women’s 3×3 Asia Cup campaign begins on Friday night at 8:15pm AEST against New Zealand.
