3x3Hustle Teams To Compete In FIBA Penang Challenger
3x3Hustle teams West Melbourne Stateside and Darwin Mad Ballers will compete at this weekend’s FIBA 3×3 Penang Challenger.
West Melbourne Stateside – who played under the name Stateside Sports during the 2019 NBL 3×3 Pro Hustle – qualified for the Penang Challenger by winning the Geelong Pro Hustle last month.
The top two teams from the Penang Challenger will earn a spot in the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Mexico City Masters on July 6-7.
Challengers provide teams the opportunity to qualify for World Tour Masters events. The FIBA 3×3 World Tour consists of 11 Masters tournaments, culminating with the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final on November 2-3.
West Melbourne is full of current or former NBL players with Jeremy Kendle, Lucas Walker, Tim Coenraad and Peter Crawford to hit the court.
Their first game is against Liman at 2:00pm AEST on Saturday. They then face Korolev at 2:40pm AEST. If Stateside advance past the qualifying stage, they will play further pool games on Saturday.
Austin Hill, Anthony Golden, Lachlan Headlam and Emanuel Siriotis will represent Darwin Mad Ballers.
Their first game is against Dalat at 3:00pm AEST on Saturday. They then face Sao Paulo DC at 3:40pm AEST. If Darwin advance past the qualifying stage, they will play further pool games on Saturday.
If either Stateside or Darwin make it to the Penang Challenger finals, those games will be played on Sunday.
The Penang Challenger will be available to watch on the FIBA 3×3 YouTube channel.
