3x3Hustle Announcement: Age Categorisation Update
To encourage a nationally united alignment with age categorisation for 3×3 basketball, 3×3 Hustle will introduce updated terminology for its age groups moving forward.
Importantly, all previously communicated age groups will remain unchanged. The adjustment relates only to the language used to describe these divisions, creating consistency across all event organisers and reducing potential confusion in the future.
This approach will support clearer communication and alignment across the broader 3×3 basketball landscape while maintaining the same participation pathways for players.
Updated Age Group Terminology
- 8 & Under (previously) → Under 9 (NEW) – Born 2018 & 2019
- 10 & Under (previously) → Under 11 (NEW) – Born 2016 & 2017
- 12 & Under (previously) → Under 13 (NEW) – Born 2014 & 2015
- 14 & Under (previously) → Under 15 (NEW) – Born 2012 & 2013
- 16 & Under (previously) → Under 17 (NEW) – Born 2010 & 2011
- 18 & Under (previously) → Under 19 (NEW) – Born 2008 & 2009
“This is a positive step for 3×3 Hustle, 3×3 is one step closer to implementing a nationally aligned age categorisation for 3×3 basketball. While our terminology has changed, the age grouping years remain the same,” Head of 3×3 Hustle, Jaele Patrick said.
“We acknowledge there may be a period of adjustment, however we want to reassure participants, parents and event organisers that this is purely a language update. Our goal is to ensure consistency and minimise age group clashes across competitions moving forward.”
